I have a private home studio where i conduct most of my product and editorial photography. I also have access to several local photography studios for hire when i require a larger space.

  • WHY SO MANY QUESTIONS?

I know, i know - we food photographers ask a LOT of questions. This is absolutely for your benefit. We need to know these things to make sure we capture exactly what it is you’re after; to make sure we are all on the same page to avoid reshoots or disappointment; and to make sure it’s done right the first time, so that you walk away from your experience happy and satisfied.

  • DO I HAVE TO SIGN A CONTRACT?

Yes. All my clients, no matter how small or large, are required to sign a contract with Sally Hulse Photography. This helps protect BOTH parties, and i am always open to changes and/or negotiations in the wording etc. So never be afraid to ask questions.

  • WHEN IS YOUR BLOG COMING?

Hopefully by the end of September 2022, all things tracking well. Fingers crossed!

  • WHERE DID YOU LEARN PHOTOGRAPHY?

    I am completely self-taught.

I have always been around photography in my life in some way. My father is an accomplished hobby photographer; my uncle was a photo journalist; even my younger sister has dabbled in the craft.

I have taken various courses and mentorships over the years, and i always continue to further my education in whatever way i can. This industry and it’s technology and processes are constantly changing and advancing. So it’s important to keep on learning.

  • WHAT IS YOUR PROCESS?

This will differ slightly depending on who my client is and what the project is, but my basic process is as follows:

    • You, the client, fills out our intake form

    • I provide a quote

    • Quote is accepted by you, the client.

    • the required 50% deposit is paid

    • We schedule in a time for a pre-production call (either over the phone or ZOOM) to discuss project particulars in depth.

    • i provide a mood board for you, the client, to review. This makes sure we are all on the same page.

    • I will compile a shot list if necessary

    • If you are a hospitality establishment I will make a scouting trip to you, in order to see the space and work out best places to shooting etc.

    • The main shoot takes place over the appropriate timeframe.

    • Post-production of your images commences.

    • Your images are delivered to you via a link to your own private gallery.

    • Final invoice is issued and paid

    • And we’re done. Until next time ;)

  • WHY DO I HAVE TO PAY FOR LICENSING?

Unless you have paid for full copyright and ownership of the images ($$$), all photos taken by a photographer are the intellectual property of that photographer. The best way to think of it is like renting a car. You will be using the car, but you don’t own the car. The longer you have possession of the rental car, the more you will be charged by the rental company. The further you drive the rental car (think of this as advertising reach), the more you will be charged by the rental company.

This is exactly how licensing works.

Full ownership and copyright of the images are always available for purchase, but keep in mind that you’ll be adding a zero (or 2 or 3…) to your total price.
